History
The town was first mentioned in the land and duty register of the Frýdlant domain in 1381, which is maintained in the state archive in Děčín.
The town's original name was Lybenwerde. The village gained recognition by the end of the 14th century, as reports about the healing effects of the local spring began to spread. It was pilgrims who spoke about it, refreshing themselves with the 'God’s water' along their journey from Lužice to the Marian pilgrimage Church of the Visitation in neighboring Hejnice. During that time, Libverda could also boast of hosting famous guests.
Among these notable guests were the Saxon Elector August I and the Bohemian humanist Bohuslav Hasištejnský of Lobkovice.
Since the late 16th century, the mineral water here has been helping patients from all corners of Europe.
On May 1st 1992, a joint stock company was established, and since then, the spa resort has always had the same Czech owner.
The spa today
Despite the trend of privatization in the spa industry since the 1990s, which aims to consolidate all services under one roof, Spa Resort Libverda has maintained its uniqueness by encouraging guests to explore the entire spa area. The treatment here primarily focuses on the musculoskeletal system, requiring clients to mobilize and move around. Clients themselves report the undeniable effects of this enforced movement throughout the spa area, often expressing positive surprise at the significant improvement in their mobility by the second half of their treatment stay.
In recent years, this small spa has experienced a renaissance, and we have invested tens of millions of crowns each year to continually introduce new innovations and enhance our services for guests.
Mineral water in Spa Libverda
The mineral water in Spa Resort Libverda is classified as natural, cold, moderately mineralized, carbonic, hypotonic water of the chemical type HCO3-MG,Ca (Hydrogen magnesium-calcium carbonate).
