The Obří sud (Giant Barrel)
The giant barrel is truly unique. Nowhere else can you have lunch so comfortably in a real, wooden barrel, while also enjoying the beautiful view of the basin where Libverda is located and the ridges of the Jizera Mountains and the mountain massif of Smrk on the way to the restaurant.
Smrk lookout tower
A 20 m high structure with a winding staircase and two lookout platforms on the top of Mount Smrk, the highest mountain in the Czech section of the Jizera Mountains. It was constructed in 2003. The original wooden lookout tower fell down shortly after the 2nd World War and was not renewed.
Castle and Chateau Frýdlant
The medieval Castle and the Renaissance Chateau in Frýdlant represent an interesting harmonic architectural complex. The Castle was built in the 13th century. In the years 1622-1634 it belonged to Albrecht of Wallenstein, one of the most significant personalities of the Thirty Years War. Particularly attractive is the tower, nearly 50 meters high, which used to serve as an orientation point or a lighthouse. The Renaissance Chateau dates back to the 17th century. The Chateau opened its collections of weapons, furniture, paintings and books from the 16th and 17th centuries to the public already in 1801. There are also unique historical collections of pipes and of toys. The Chateau Gallery displays works of the Czech Baroque masters.
Frýdlant lookout tower
In 1906, a decorative association laid the foundation sotne for the construction of a twenty-metre, walled tower which the Frýdlant building company of Appelt and Hampel comleted within one year. It served its purpose until 1958, when it was closed for strategic reasons. Access was definitively restored in 1982. The lookout tower is located on the northernmost section of the Sluneční cesta (the Sunny Trail) on the Frýdlant upland.
Ještěd
An observation tower, restaurant, hotel and a radiocommunication tower. The observation tower in its modern look is situated on the top of the mountain Ještěd (1012 metres above the sea level) since 1973. The monumental work of the architect K.Hubáček has got the shape of a rotation hyperboloid and it also got many appraisals. The observation tower is accessible by the road or by the touristic paths but also by the cabine lift.
Liberec town hall
Neo-Renaissance town hall was built between 1888-1893 as proposed by the Viennese architect, and so his view of the building recalls the town hall in Vienna. Above the huge entrance portal us attract a stone relief depicting the old and new town hall and balustrádový balcony. Interesting is 65 meters high main tower, which completed sculpture knight. Attention, however, is also richly decorated facades, stained glass and rare beautiful ceremonial hall, which is an excellent example of precision craft work. Despite its age, remains the town hall remains one of the most precious architectural jewels of the city under Ještěd.
