Germany

Görlitz
A visit to Görlitz will turn you into a time traveller on the spot. Within a few hundred metres, you will pass treasures from more than half a millennium of European architectural history – all yours to discover. With its late Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and art nouveau buildings, Görlitz is considered an integrated architectural work of art, and fortunately, the city was not destroyed during the Second World War. Nowhere in Germany will you find such a density of lavishly restored listed buildings as in the city on the River Neisse.

Dresden
Dresden offers attractions in great variety. No book about the history of architecture can miss mentioning the Dresden Zwinger. The Frauenkirche Church, Semper Opera House and Royal Palace as well as many other historical monuments and ensembles determine the image of the city. The saucy angels from Raphael’s “The Sistine Madonna” make publicity for Dresden’s art collections in the whole world. Magnificent promenades on the bank of the Elbe, interesting museums and institutions, industrial monuments, charming details — Dresden has a lot for you to discover.

Zittau
Zittau is a city in the south east of the Free State of Saxony, Germany, close to the border tripoint of Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. As of 2007[update], there are 29,361 people in the city. It is part of the Görlitz district. The inner city of Zittau still shows its original beauty with many houses out of several areas of German architecture. There is the famous town hall in an Italian style, the church of St. John and the stables (Salzhaus) with its medieval heritage. This multistoried building is one of the oldest of its kind in Germany.

Poland

Jelenia Góra
Jelenia Góra is a city in Lower Silesia, south-western Poland. The name of the city means "deer mountain" in Polish and German. It is close to the Karkonosze mountain range running along the Polish-Czech border – ski resorts such as Karpacz and Szklarska Poręba can be found within 10–15 km of the town. Jelenia Góra is situated in Lower Silesian Voivodeship (since 1999), having previously been the seat of Jelenia Góra Voivodeship (1975-1998). The city constitutes a separate urban gmina and city county (powiat), as well as being the seat of Jelenia Góra County (which surrounds but does not include the city).

Szklarska Poręba
Sklarska Poreba is a town in Jelenia Góra County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. The town has a population of around 7,000. It is a popular ski resort. An important regional and national centre for mountain hiking, cycling and skiing, Szklarska Poręba is situated in the valley of the Kamienna, between the Karkonosze Mountains and Jizera Mountains, 1,900 ft. above sea level, 16 miles south-west of Jelenia Góra. The ski resorts in this area are growing in popularity as an alternative to the Alps, thanks to wide range of both Alpine and Nordic skiing facilities.

Świeradów-Zdrój
Świeradów-Zdrój is a town in Lubań County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Prior to 1945 it was in Germany. The town is located in the Kwisa valley in the Izera Mountains (part of the Sudetes range). It lies approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of Lubań, and 123 kilometres (76 mi) west of the regional capital Wrocław. First mentioned in 1524, Świeradów received its town privileges in 1946.
